Tryon bridge down to one lane

TRYON - The Tryon bridge will be operating with one less traffic lane after failing a recent inspection.

"It was found to be structurally deficient on one side of the bridge, some support piles are missing," said Darrell Evans, assistant director of Capital Projects for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "The department acted quickly to close off the eastbound lane and is now reviewing possibilities to repair the bridge."

Tryon is a small community in central P.E.I. about 15 kilometres east of Borden-Carleton.

No timetable has been set for any future repair work at this time.
