Milk Quality Award goes to Craggan Farms

Dairy Famers of Prince Edward Island announced that John and David Wood of Craggan Farms Ltd. in Marshfield are the 2013 Ron Sampson Milk Quality Award recipients.

DFPEI has recognized the Woods’ management abilities as key factors for producing the finest quality milk. John is a proven leader in the dairy industry, having served as a director of ADL for eight years. He was also president of the P.E.I. Holstein Branch, and he continues to contribute to his community as a 4-H leader.

Honourable mention was extended to this year’s runner-up, Kouwenberg Farm Ltd., Hans, Theo, and Keys Kouwenberg of Millview. Third place finishers were David and Jennifer McGuire of Star Haven Farm in Freetown.

The Ron Sampson Milk Quality Award was created in 2012 by Ron Sampson, DFPEI’s udder health technician. The award recognizes Island dairy producers who achieve a level of excellence in milk quality and who demonstrate leadership in their industry and community.
