Man fined $400 for shoplifting

SUMMERSIDE - A 33-year-old Summerside man was fined $400 after pleading guilty in Summerside provincial court to a charge of shoplifting.


Thomas Matthew was arrested and charged on March 7 after taking an auto paint pen from Canadian Tire.

Matthew was observed by store security taking the item and leaving the store without paying for it.

The auto paint pen, valued at $14.99, was recovered and was resalable.

In addition to the fine, Matthew was ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $120.
