If not for the multiple tour busses parked out front and the small crowd of fans lining the highway it might have been any other traditional island wedding.

Dion Phaneuf, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, married actress Elisha Cuthbert in a little church on a hill in Summerfield, P.E.I. on Saturday.

Phaneuf and Cuthbert have been part-time Islanders for several years. He has strong family ties here and owns a summer home in New London; the couple has spent their summers here since they started dating.

St. James Catholic Church was packed for the nuptials and locals lined up along the highway for some stargazing.

Several people who spoke with the Journal Pioneer said they didn't want to intrude so they kept a respectful distance from the church.

Just before walking in Cuthbert turned to the small crowd and waved as they cheered and called out well wishes.
