Last night, Liberal MLA Allen Roach tabled a private member’s bill that would largely prohibit businesses from providing plastic checkout bags to customers.
Speaker Buck Watts also ruled Tuesday that MLAs won’t be allowed to ask cabinet ministers during question period about things they did before joining cabinet. Last week three MLAs rose on points of order or privilege, which Watts took under consideration.
Meanwhile, PC MLA Jamie Fox argued that the province must increase the financial threshold for Islanders seeking to access legal aid.
