KENSINGTON – Kensington town council has agreed to contribute at least $5,000 to the Kensington Viper’s bid to host the 2019 Don Johnson Memorial Cup at Credit Union Centre.

The event, which is the Junior B hockey championships for Atlantic Canada, comes to P.E.I. every four years and brings in three teams from outside the province.

As part of the town’s support, it has also agreed to keep the ice in Credit Union Centre for two additional weeks at the end of the season, which will cost an estimated $10,000. The town expects this portion of its contribution to be recoverable.
