Prince Edward Island will continue to be under a freezing rain warning until Wednesday morning, but it won't be long before temperatures get almost balmy again.
Rain is expected to begin, or has begun, this evening, leading to an extended period of freezing rain conditions overnight beginning around midnight.
A trough of low pressure is forecast to approach from the southwest to spread light snow or ice pellets across P.E.I. Tuesday night.
Environment Canada said surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery and urged drivers to adjust to changing road conditions.
The treacherous conditions weren’t expected to last long into Wednesday, however. The freezing rain is expected to change to rain showers Wednesday as temperatures rise to around 0 C in the morning.
The weather agency said temperatures today could eventually reach a high of 8 C with a mix of sun and cloud.
