A woman was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision Thursday night in Dunstaffnage.
Queens District RCMP, Island EMS and the North Shore Fire Department responded to the collision shortly after 3 p.m. at 213929 St. Peters Road.
Jason Blackman, fire chief for the North Shore Fire Department, says a Dodge truck and Honda Civic collided just past the Suffolk Road.
The female driver of the Honda Civic was transported to the QEH by ambulance with serious injuries and a female passenger of the Dodge truck was transported by a second ambulance to QEH with unknown injuries.
The man driving the Dodge truck was treated and released at the scene.
Blackman said Route 2 was shut down for 90 minutes for investigation and cleanup.
“Typically, in those situations now we try and shut the traffic down just for the safety of all, especially when the roads are like that,” said Blackman.
He believes weather could have been a factor.
