Man sentenced for repeatedly driving while prohibited
SUMMERSIDE – Derwin Clayton Bowness, 63 of Summerside has pleaded guilty to four counts of driving while disqualified.
The charges all occurred within a short timeframe, on Jan. 13, Feb. 4, 8 and 9, and were all in the Summerside area.
When he appeared in provincial court in Summerside this week to answer to the charges, Bowness was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail, is prohibited from driving for 48 months and must pay $400 in victim surcharges.
McLean sentenced
SUMMERSIDE – Christopher James Wendall McLean, 29, of Cornwall, pleaded guilty to several charges when he appeared in provincial court earlier this week.
The charges include one count of unlawful possession of a Schedule 1 substance, methamphetamine, one count of breaching an undertaking, one count of theft of items from Lawtons Drugs valued at less than $5,000, one count of criminal harassment for repeatedly contacting a woman, and one count of breaching his probation.
The charges are from Oct. 29 and 30, 2017, and Jan. 10 and May 4, 2018, and took place in Charlottetown, Marshfield and Cornwall.
McLean was sentenced to serve 100 days in jail but received credit for 27 days he’d already served since his arrest. He must also serve 18 months of probation, pay a $500 fine and $650 in victim surcharges.
Gregory pleads guilty
SUMMERSIDE – Calvin Emmons Gregory, 34, of Victoria, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of merchandise, one from the P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission and one from Atlantic Superstore and one count of defrauding Scotiabank of a sum of money exceeding $5,000.
The fraud charge is from between June 27 and Aug. 31, 2017, in Crapaud while the theft charges are from March 12 and April 11 in Summerside and Charlottetown.
Gregory was sentenced to serve 55 days in jail, but received credit for 48 days he’d already spent in custody since his arrest.
He must also serve 24 months of probation, must pay $400 in victim surcharges and must pay restitution.
Charlottetown man sentenced for multiple offences
SUMMERSIDE – Justin Ryan Sark, 26, of Charlottetown pleaded guilty to breaching several charges against him.
Sark pleaded guilty to one count of breaching a court undertaking by going to Lennox Island, which he had been ordered to stay away from, two counts of breaching a probation order by failing to report to his probation officer and contacting someone he’d been ordered not to, one count of assault, one count of unlawful confinement and one count of stealing a cellphone, valued less than $5,000.
All of the charges are dated from between March and April in Lennox Island.
Sark was sentenced to serve 31 days in custody and 18 months of probation. He must also pay $600 in victim surcharges and make restitution for the loss of the phone.
Man pleads guilty to multiple charges
SUMMERSIDE – John Paul Little, 52, of Summerside, has pleaded guilty one count of theft, one count of being an accessory to a crime after the fact, one count of possession of tools suitable for breaking and entering and one count of theft of money valued at less than $5,000.
The charges are from Jan. 18 in Summerside.
Little was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail and received permission to do so intermittently. He must also serve 12 months of probation and pay $300 in victim surcharges.
Butler sentenced
SUMMERSIDE – Mitchell Kevin Maurice Butler, of St. Lawrence, has pleaded guilty to uttering a death threat.
The charge is from April 20 in Alberton.
Butler was sentenced to serve five days in custody, which he received permission to do intermittently, and must also serve 18 months of probation and pay a $100 victim surcharge.
Hardy pleads guilty
SUMMERSIDE – Clint David Hardy, 40, of Summerside has pleaded guilty to failing to abide by an emergency protection order by contacting someone he’d been forbidden to have any interaction with.
The charge is from March 18 in Summerside.
Hardy was fined $500 and must pay a $75 victim surcharge.
Summerside man sentenced
SUMMERSIDE – Tyson William Clow, 19, of Summerside, pleaded guilty to threatening to cause bodily harm to a woman, threatening to damage to her property and breaching an undertaking by contacting the same woman.
Clow was given a suspended sentence, must remain on probation for 12 months and must pay $300 in victim surcharges.
