Guilty plea entered 

A Cape Breton boxer has entered guilty pleas on two charges and is now scheduled to be sentenced in March.
Ryan James Rozicki, 25, pleaded guilty to charges of assault and mischief relating to property damage, smashing a car window. A third count of assault by choking was dismissed.
The offences are alleged to have occurred last March 14 in Sydney Forks and involved Rozicki’s girlfriend.
Sentencing is now scheduled for March 8. Rozicki continues his release on conditions.

Charges dismissed against three accused

Drug trafficking charges against three accused have been dismissed but will proceed against a fourth.
Charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and possession of money knowing it was obtained by crime were withdrawn against Tanya Marie Stubbard, 45, of Glace Bay, Elva Karlene Daix, 33, of Donkin and John Alfred Farrell, 48, of Glace Bay.
The offences were alleged to have occurred last Dec. 20 in Glace Bay.
Daix is now to return to provincial court Feb. 23 to enter pleas on four counts of breaching court orders.
Farrell is also to return to court the same date to enter pleas on charges of breaching a court order and drug possession.
The fourth accused, James Russell Mauger, 34, of Glace Bay, is to return to provincial court Feb. 10 to enter pleas on two counts of possession of money knowing it was obtained by crime, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) and seven counts of breaching court orders.
He is also scheduled to stand trial July 19 on two counts of breaching courts and single counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (an air pistol), possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of money knowing it was obtained by crime.

Sentencing date assigned 

A Sydney man is now to be sentenced in March after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of child pornography.
Gervase Jerome Young, 66, of Tartan Drive committed the offence Feb. 7, 2019 in Sydney.
A second count of accessing child pornography was withdrawn.
Sentencing is now scheduled for March 22.

Plea date scheduled 

A New Waterford man is to return to provincial court in February to enter pleas on multiple offences.
Richard James MacKinnon, 30, of Pellat Avenue is charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, unlawfully being in a dwelling, possession of an instrument that could be used in a break-in, breaching a court order and uttering a threat.
The offences are alleged to have occurred Jan. 8 in New Waterford.
MacKinnon also faces unrelated charges of two counts of assault.
A plea date is now set for Feb. 23. MacKinnon continues his release on conditions.

Trial set on trafficking charge

A trial date has been set for a New Waterford man facing charges including drug trafficking.
Jarrett Anthony MacKinnon, 35, of King Street is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, possession of money knowing it was obtained by crime and breaching a court order.
The offences are alleged to have occurred last Aug. 20 in New Waterford.
MacKinnon, who continues his release on conditions, is now scheduled to stand trial Oct. 26.
