A twilight all-terrain vehicle ride to the Confederation Bridge is included in the annual general meeting and conference of the Canadian Quad Council, taking place Sept. 13 to 15 at the Slemon Park Hotel and Conference Centre.

Peter Mellish, president of the PEI ATV Federation said his organization offered to host the meeting and conference as a way of celebrating and promoting trail development here in P.E.I.

We want to put P.E.I. on the map,” expressed Mellish; “we want to enhance our tourism product by keeping our bikes and our money here at home.”

As a member of the trail development team, he admits being excited and proud to take ATV’ers from across the country out onto the trails.

The federation, Mellish said, has been working hard for more than two years to reach its goal of developing a trail system across the province. That has included digging ditches, building bridges and putting up fences, all on a volunteer basis by federation and local club membership.

It’s all being done, he said, in an effort to provide ATV enthusiasts with a safe and enjoyable place to ride.
