Two injured in four-vehicle crash

Two drivers were taken to hospital following a four-vehicle accident on Route 1-A in Summerside. The driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt was trapped in the car and was extracted by Suummerside firefighters. The driver of the van was also taken to hospital. Neither had life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation

SUMMERSIDE – Two people were injured in a four-vehicle accident, Wednesday afternoon, on Route 1-A just beyond Reads Corner in Summerside.


A female driver in a Chevrolet Cobalt was trapped in the vehicle. Summerside firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the woman. She was taken by EMS Ambulance Service to Prince County Hospital.

A male driver in a Pontiac Montana van was also injured in the collision. He was also taken by ambulance to hospital.

Two other vehicles were also damaged in the collision. All four vehicles were towed from the scene.

AnRCMP spokesman said the cause of the crash has yet to be determined. He said statements are being taken from the drivers involved and the investigation is continuing.
