CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Lady Singers of Our Century will be back on stage for a concert at The Mount Continuing Care Community in Charlottetown on Friday evening.
This group has been working hard to present a new show and will be paying tribute to a variety of female artists.
“We are very happy to present this concert in this wonderful facility so we can share our music with residents that would not be able to attend one of our concerts,” noted one of the show organizers, July Lowe.
"We will be paying tribute to new artists such as Connie Francis, Anne Murray, Crystal Gayle and Tammy Wynette as well as doing new material of Patsy Clines, and presenting the most popular songs of Loretta Lynn."
Hosts Joan Reeves and Judy McGregor, aka Ding and Dong, will be singing familiar songs of Connie Francis with their blend of harmonies, and perform songs of their former gym teacher, Anne Murray. They have also put together some amusing stories and jokes.
Jolee Patkai will again be paying tribute to her favourite female country artist, Loretta Lynn, singing her most requested songs. Patkai will also pay tribute to Crystal Gayle, Lynn’s sister.
Keila Glydon will continue to sing Patsy Cline’s most requested songs as well as Tammy Wynette’s.
Colleen MacPhee will return with the songs of the late, great Rita MacNeil but with all new material of MacNeil’s, except for “The Working Man,” which was kept as the group’s final song.
Tickets for the June 15 show are $12 at the door which opens at 6:30 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m.
The Mount is located at 141 Mt. Edward Road.
