The Summerside theatre staff is intent on having as many families as possible get to enjoy this fun afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 14, by offering a special “pay what you will” promotion.
Executive director, Kieran Keller, explains, “The Canada 150 Performance Series is to make performing arts accessible to as many Canadians as possible. We’re excited to offer our community’s families and youngsters a group of this calibre, and we are so sure young and old are going to love this show, that we just decided to say, come on along, get a ticket and pay nothing on your way in, and once you’ve experienced the infectious joy, energy and musicianship of The Swinging Belles, you decide what, if anything, to pay on your way out after the show.”
Winners of the 2016 Juno and 2015 Canadian Folk Music Award for Children’s Album of the Year, the Swinging Belles feature child educators and performers Laura Winter and Erin Power joined by guitarist Duane Andrews.
This show is all about getting kids and parents out to enjoy some swing country and jazz – kid style. The show is packed with music, interactive storytelling and dancing … lots of dancing.
Erin and Laura hold masters degrees in education and folklore respectively. Guitar guru Andrews, a multi-award-winning international artist, is thrilled to be able to bring his passion for swing jazz and Newfoundland traditional music to an enthusiastic young audience.
Tickets for the 2 p.m. matinee performance are available at the box office and online at www.harbourfronttheare.com. Online orders are limited to six tickets per party.
This tour is part of the Atlantic Presenters Association and RADARTS' Canada 150 Performance Series.
