CRAPAUD, P.E.I. – A special fundraising concert, “Tribute to Lady Singers of Our Century,” will be held at St John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Crapaud on Sunday. This group of Island artists will present the music of a variety of female country singers.

The church was designed by renowned P.E.I. architect, William Critchlow Harris, who designed many of the churches and public buildings dotting the Island landscape. The building is an example of his attention to beauty, function, and acoustics.

  1. Joan Reeves and Judy McGregor will be singing familiar songs of Connie Francis as well as songs of their favourite former gym teacher, Anne Murray. They have put together some great stories and jokes that will keep the audience entertained and laughing.

Jolee Patkai is looking forward to once again paying tribute to her favourite country artist, Loretta Lynn, singing her most requested songs. Patkai will also pay tribute to Crystal Gayle, Lynn’s sister.
Keila Glydon will continue to sing Patsy Cline’s most popular songs and will also be singing some of Tammy Wynette’s favourites.

Colleen MacPhee will be paying tribute once again to her favourite singer, the late Rita MacNeil, singing all new material this season, except for “The Working Man,” which the group has kept as their final song.

Tickets for the Aug. 12 concert are $12 and can be purchased at the door or reserve tickets by calling 902-658-2648. A light lunch will be served. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the concert starting at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 391 Nelson St. on the Trans-Canada Highway.
