ABRAM-VILLAGE, P.E.I. – The Village musical acadien in Abram-Village will present Marcella Richard on stage, accompanied by family and friends, in a new show to promote the release of her album “Marcella Richard Sings Roy MacCaull.”
The event will be held Sunday at 7 p.m.
Richard, who was raised in Mont-Carmel in one of Evangeline area’s multi-talented musical families, has recorded three francophone albums which feature songs written by artists from the Maritimes and Louisiana as well as some of her own compositions.
She has been involved in music for many years and has performed throughout Canada, the United States and France. She is well-known for her Acadian and country songs.
“I have been thinking about putting together a collection of Roy’s songs for a long time and I have finally made an album which I entitled ‘Marcella Richard Sings Roy MacCaull,’ in honour of his great contribution to the music world,” says Richard.
The Jan. 21 show will feature her family members – parents Clarence and Leonie Richard and sister Patsy Richard, a singer who has also performed in several nationwide and international musical productions.
Sunday’s Village musical acadien show will also feature Roy MacCaull himself, an accomplished Island singer-songwriter who has produced several albums; Eddy Poirier, an exceptional New-Brunswick fiddler and multi-instrument musician well-known throughout the Maritimes; Larry Campbell, a ceilidh singer-songwriter and long-time friend and playing partner of MacCaull; Peter Arsenault and Remi Arsenault, two popular Acadian musicians.
