SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Drawing attention to P.E.I.’s comic book artists is “Behind the Panels: Selected Works by Various Island Comic Book Creators,” which is on display until Oct. 5. P.E.I. has a strong presence in the comic book arts world, with a surprising number of Islanders creating in this medium and working in this field.

Featured artists are Jeff Alward, Jess Anne, Sandy Carruthers, Brenda Hickey, Tyler Landry, Troy Little, Ramón Sierra, and Jenni Zelin. There is also a section including artwork by some of P.E.I.’s rising talents.

In August, the centre is open Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is by donation.

The on-site gift shop carries only Island art and craft, as well as books on local themes.

The permanent exhibition on the history and architecture of Summerside is also on display.
