Country Music Evangeline hosting 8th annual festival starting Friday

ABRAM-VILLAGE, P.E.I. – The 8th annual Evangeline Country Music Festival is a three-day event, set for Friday to Sunday, Oct. 13 to 15.

All activities are held at the Acadian Musical Village (Expo-Festival Centre) in Abram-Village.

Nick Arsenault, known as the Acadian Johnny Cash, will be performing at the Country Kitchen Party on Friday, Oct. 13, at 8:30 p.m.

The festival begins with a Country Kitchen Party on Friday, Oct. 13, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Music will be provided by local Acadian Johnny Cash (Nick Arsenault) accompanied by Shane Arsenault, Peter Arsenault and Alan Gallant.

The Chase the Ace draw will be at 9 p.m. Lunch will be available. This activity is reserved to adults 19 years and over.

The following day, Saturday, Oct. 14, a children's program is presented from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with games and activities for children under 10 years. “Paw Patrol” characters will be present from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Admission is $2.

A popular activity, the Legends of Country Music Show, will be held Saturday evening at 8:30. Over 20 local country music performers will take the stage to personify some of the country music legends, such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty and many more.

During the evening willing participants will try performing the sounds of various farm animals in an all-fun contest. There will also be a 50/50 draw and chicken fricot and râpure will be available. This activity is reserved for 19 years and over and cowboy/cowgirl outfits are encouraged for this event.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, plan to attend the musical turkey buffet, which will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Roast turkey will be the special item on the menu, along with homemade soup, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, vegetables, galette blanche, a selection of desserts, tea and coffee. Musical entertainment will be provided by Alex and Jacques Arsenault from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Admission is $14.95, $7.95 for children 12 years and under, and free for preschoolers.
