Summerside - It’s time to start planning for the annual P.E.I. Community Theatre Festival held in conjunction with World Theatre Day in March.
Amateur theatre groups are invited to submit a short play or excerpt (maximum of 30 minutes) for the fun and causal 2018 Community Theatre Festival, which will be held at the Carrefour in Charlottetown on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17.
The event will fill Saturday afternoon, with a play running every three-quarters of an hour, along with breaks between performances.
Wade Lynch, the adjudicator, says the theatre is, “An inclusive, nurturing community experience. To hear stories told, sung and physicalized in English, French, Mi'kmaq and mime are how we build a stronger, welcoming, tolerant, safe and magical community,” said Lynch.
Refreshments will be provided to participants.
Organizers need short plays or excerpts of any kind, from slapstick, intense drama, legend, classic satire, including improvisation.
Mentoring guidance with constructive feedback is available on request. Past mentors include Lynch, Monique Lafontaine, Richard Haines and Laura Bird.
Participants will be presented with participation award mementoes.
