CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Etsy Artisans of P.E.I. have another pop-up market planned for next weekend in Charlottetown.

The market will be held April 29-30 at the Delta Convention Centre, and includes 90 vendors — an increase from the 75 vendors at a 2016 market.

In addition to the P.E.I. artisans, there will be 15 Etsy sellers from off-island, as well as 30 first-time vendors, live music and door prizes.

The Etsy pop-up markets are unique because each vendor operates an online shop on Etsy — a global online marketplace featuring more than 20 million creative items.

The markets bring the online world to the real world, allowing people to meet the maker behind the online shop and see the products they’ve only seen in the virtual world.

Etsy Artisans of P.E.I.’s first pop-up market was Etsy Made in Canada, a nation wide event that took place in 2014 and saw 23 cities holding pop-up markets featuring local Etsy sellers in each region.

Made In Canada will return for its fourth year in late September.

Most of the Etsy Artisans of P.E.I. members are women who work full-time jobs and have their creative passion as a “side hustle.” Many are stay-at-home moms who are looking for a creative outlet with extra cash flow to support their families.

At every Etsy market on P.E.I., proceeds from the admission go towards a local charity.

The hours for the spring market are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.
