MONT-CARMEL – The Summer Concert Series at Mont-Carmel Parish Hall is back.
The series, sponsored by the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC), begins Sunday at 7 p.m.
Sunday’s show is the first in a series of eight shows set for the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.
Featured in the series opener are Patricia Richard, Marcella Richard, Caroline Bernard, Rémi Arsenault, Jeannita Bernard and Léonie Richard, along with members of the Chaisson Family (Darla MacPhee, J.J. Chaisson and Brent Chaisson).
Step dancers Jocelyne Arsenault and Les Étoiles d’Acadie will round out the line-up.
Patricia Richard, Marcella Richard and Caroline Bernard are well known in the music scene on the Island, in a number of Canadian provinces and internationally.
Marcella has three solo albums to her name and Patricia was a member of several former groups, such as PANOU, Acadilac and Ode à l’Acadie.
Caroline was a member of the groups Gadelle and Chiquésa and she will be performing with Lennie Gallant all summer in his show, “Searching for Abegweit: Songs & Stories of Lennie Gallant,” which is playing at Charlottetown’s Mackenzie Theatre.
Léonie Richard, who is the mother of Patricia and Marcella, and Jeannita Bernard, who is Caroline’s mother, will be joining their daughters on stage. Accompanying the women will be Rémi Arsenault.
Born into the well-known Chaisson family, J. J., Darla and Brent were immersed in the world of traditional music at a very young age.
All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6:15. Seating is limited.
