SUMMERSIDE – Ladies looking for a great time are urged to take their little black dress out of the shadows for the Black Dress Soiree on Friday, May 9.

If a LBD isn’t your wardrobe, any upscale style will do, according to organizer Heather Carver.

“The purpose is to provide a special night for women,” she says, allowing them to connect and share their energy.

That special effort also helps raise money for the upcoming Relay for Life event, in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Centre Belle-Alliance at the French school in Summerside, located at 5 Stella Maris Ave., off South Drive.

The price of a ticket provides a complimentary glass of wine, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, and a chance to win one of 20 great door prizes.

Entertainment will be provided by master hypnotist Ed Ratelle, Troy MacArthur (Rattlesnakin’ Daddies, Saddle River String Band), “Rita MacNeil”, the Furious George dance band, and Barb Ramsay.

Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. They are available at the PetroCan in Kensington, the Silhouette II hair salon in Summerside (436-6103), the Canadian Cancer Society (1-902-566-4007), or organizer Linda Stavert (836-3966).

“Those who have attended previous Soirees know what a fantastic evening is in store,” states the news release for the event.

Organizers urge women not to delay purchasing their ticket for this fourth annual Soiree.

“You will have the time of your life and be supporting a great cause,” organizers declared in the release.
