SUMMERSIDE STAFF The Journal Pioneer
A plea was finally heard in the case of assault on an infant, with the facts of the case to be heard early next year.
On Monday in Summerside, David Evans Kelly, 24, of Kensington pleaded guilty to assault and elected to have his case heard by a Provincial Court judge.
Kelly was initially charged in January of this year after a baby boy was taken to Prince County Hospital before being transported to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax with serious injuries.
The case has met with several adjournments since Kelly’s initial court date.
A pre-sentence report will be prepared before the next appearance, which is set for January 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. for a hearing of the facts.
