U.S. extends lead

SUMMERSIDE -- David Gerths scored off his own rebound at 8:20 of the second period to give the United States a 2-0 lead over Sweden on Thursday afternoon.
The teams are playing a quarter-final game at the 2009 World Junior ‘A’ Hockey Challenge.
Nick Jensen opened the scoring at 4:06 of the middle frame.
There is just under nine minutes remaining in the second period.
