CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – A University of Prince Edward Island student has been selected for the Killam Fellowship at Clemson University in South Carolina.

Morgan King, an honours science student in chemistry and biology, will spend a semester studying at the U.S. university.

The Killam Fellowships program is offered by Fulbright Canada, the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States.

King, described as an exceptional student, has been the recipient of a number of other scholarships including the Wanda Wyatt Scholarship, the Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship, the Inspiring Excellence award and the William A. Reddin Scholarship.

In his submission letter, King said he would use the opportunity to grow and make a difference using what he has learned.

“I would immerse myself in a place I have only read about. I would represent Canada as what I am: a bright-eyed, eager individual looking to learn about the world around him.”

In Dr. Gaelene Tobin’s nomination letter she wrote, “Morgan is determined to become a research scientist and leader in his field of study. We feel that the support offered by this current scholarship could assist in this process.”
