Attendance is essential

General News

Exams are approaching quickly, which means it is more important than ever for students to maintain their attendance. If your child is missing time for whatever reason, please ensure that they inform their teachers beforehand as it is the student’s responsibility to catch up on missed lessons and assignments.

The women’s rugby team has returned from their trip to Edmonton and it is now Westisle’s turn to host the other team, who will be touring West Prince and attending Westisle classes. Westisle’s 2018 prom will be on May 26 this year.

Westisle Buskers is held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning in the gym from 8:30 until 8:53. There are plenty of activities to try, such as ripstiking, unicycling, juggling, extreme pogo, diablo, and balancing skills.

Westisle’s school survey is active again this year and can be taken at www.ourschool.net/westisleparent2018. Take a few moments to complete the survey as it provides valuable feedback when ending the school year and preparing for the 2018-2019 year.

Upcoming Dates

A presentation will be held in the library for students on May 14 at 1:30 p.m. on student loans. Students are asked to sign up for this in guidance. There will also be an information night on May 14 at 6 p.m. for parents. Topics to be discussed include provincial and federal student loans, bursaries for adult learners, George Coles, Island Skills, Career Connect, debt reduction programs for student debt, etc. Space for this event is unlimited.

There will be no classes for Westisle students on May 21 due to Victoria Day, and students’ last day of classes will be June 7, with exams from June 11 to 14.

Volunteer Opportunities

O'Leary Elementary is looking for a volunteer to coach the boys’ softball team. These hours can count toward bursary hours. If interested, let Mrs. Morgan know ASAP.
