CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Canadian Labour Congress executive vice-president, Donald Lafleur, will be in Charlottetown to speak at the P.E.I. Federation of Labour’s annual Labour Day Barbecue on Monday, Sept. 3.

Lafleur will be speaking about the CLC’s pharmacare campaign, the value of unions and the significance of Labour Day. This year, Canada’s unions are calling on the federal government to create a single-payer, universal pharmacare program.

“More than 80,000 people across Canada have signed on to this campaign,” said Lafleur. “A single-payer, universal prescription drug plan would ensure that everybody with a health card has access to the medications they need.”

The Labour Day event will be held at Joe Ghiz Memorial Park beginning at 11 a.m.
