PUERTO VALLARTA – Children in the Volcanes community in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, will have an extra merry Christmas thanks to the efforts of Father Eloi Arsenault and other Islanders who have donated to the community.

Recently, a group of women from Summerside, called Kuddles for Kids, made 150 soft, cuddly teddy bears for the children and sent them to Mexico.

The bears were made out of scraps of clothing and were donated to two kindergarten classes in Colonia, a neighbourhood of Volcanes.

Each year, Arsenault fundraises for the community to help support their school and library programs.

Summerside businessman, Peter Jendrick also donated to the kindergarten classes for their Christmas party. He also teaches the children English.

The kindergarten classes, comprised of about 140 kids, welcomed the toys and treats just in time for Christmas.
