Bird Count for Kids coming to P.E.I. on Jan. 7

A fun, family-friendly bird watching event is coming to Stratford on Jan. 7.

P.E.I.’s first ever Christmas Bird Count for Kids will get’s underway on Saturday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fullerton’s Conservation Park in Stratford.

The Stratford Area Watershed Improvement Group and Nature P.E.I. will co-host the event, with Luke Peters leading the walk.

“It should be a good opportunity for kids to learn about the native birds of Prince Edward Island,” said Peters.

All ages are welcome.

Those wanting to attend are advised to dress in warm boots and clothing and can bring binoculars if they have them as well as bird books and snacks. Hot chocolate will be served after the walk.

To get there, turn onto Reeve’s Estates off the Trans-Canada Highway then turn right on McIntosh Drive. Keep straight until drivers reach the parking lot at the Fullerton’s trail entrance.
