SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – The Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association (BBEMA) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special event this evening.

The anniversary party is taking place Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside. The event will include the organization’s annual general meeting as well as the unveiling of BBEMA’s new logo, and a synopsis of the group’s past, present and future.

There will also be displays available for viewing, a meet and greet for the public, and a reunion of current and former staff and board members.

Dr. Irene Novaczek, well known Island researcher and environmentalist, will be the evening’s guest speaker.

“We are excited to celebrate this important milestone for BBEMA, and to bring light to the important work that has been performed by our board members, staff and partners over the years,” said Barry Mayne, BBEMA’s president.

“We have many enthusiastic individuals, businesses and communities engaged in our activities. July 19 will be a great opportunity for others to learn more and to get involved.”

BBEMA was founded in 1992 with a mandate to restore and enhance the Bedeque Bay watershed area.
