ALBERTON, P.E.I. – The Cascumpec Bay Watershed Association will be hosting its annual Beach Day and conducting a beach cleanup on July 13.

The cleanup, which gets underway at 9 a.m., will start at Jacques Cartier Provincial Park in Kildare and include the area known as “the gap,” and continue to the mouth of Alberton harbour. The purpose of the event is to gather up any garbage along the beach in order to provide a safe and clean environment for people and wildlife.

Any volunteers are welcome to join in the event.

Go!PEI will be offering free kayak rides, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for anyone wishing to try it. Go!PEI staff will be on hand to offer assistance to beginner kayakers. There will be lots of gear and kayaks to go around.

Hotdogs and light snacks will be provided following the beach cleanup.
