CASCUMPEC – There’s a 14-foot wooden dory to be won again this year in the ninth annual Roy Chaisson Memorial Trout Fishing Derby.

This is the second year a dory has been offered as a lottery prize as part of the popular derby. Clarence Clements was the prize-winner last year.

The derby will be based at Gough Bridge, Cascumpec, on Sunday, May 7, but tickets on the Barry Tuplin-built dory are already for sale at Scotiabank, O’Leary, West Prince Video, Bakin’ Donuts in Bloomfield, Vinny’s in O’Leary and Wellington Convenience. Tickets are also available form Nadine Chaisson, organizer of the derby which is held in memory of her late husband. ScotiaBank is currently providing a matching donation for ticket sales.

The derby and lottery are in aid of the IWK Children’s Hospital.
Last year the derby and lottery raised $8,737. In the first eight years combined, the derby has raised $13,155 for the hospital.
