Su, who has worked with the Summerside store for seven years, said it was difficult for the owner to make the decision to close.
“However, with the rising operational costs, changes in customers’ shopping habits, and the lack of demand for the personal service we have prided ourselves with, it is felt that it is time to close our doors for good.”
The Homestead opened in 2000, with Kay Newson Rogers as the owner for 12 years until her daughter, Tamara MacNeill took over the business.
They’re appreciative of the staff for their loyalty and dedication over the last 15 years, said Su.
“We would like to thank all of our loyal customers over the years, near and far, for their continued support. We have made friendships to last a lifetime, and it has been a privilege to serve each one of you.”
A closing out sale will run until the store ends operations in early January.
