SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – ADL has been recognized as Grand Champion Reserve in aged cheddar at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
This was the first year that ADL entered cheddar into the Royal Cheese competition.
“It is truly an honour to accept the Grand Champion Reserve award in the Extra Mature Cheddar category and the Silver Trier Award - Highest Aggregate score in cheddar cheese. These awards speak to the commitment that our P.E.I. farmer-owners have to producing high quality milk and our cheese maker’s attention to detail and time honored recipes” said Chad Mann, ADL Business Development Manager.
The competition, featuring dozens of cheese producers from across the country, was judged in advance of The Royal's 10-day event from Nov. 3-12, 2017 at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
“These awards are a testament to the quality milk that comes from our P.E.I. farms, the various levels of grading we undertake of our milk and cheese and the insistence on quality and consistency from our cheese-makers. This is a tremendous recognition that is shared equally by our farmer-owners and all our production staff,” said Darcy Carr, Head Cheese Maker at ADL.
ADL was established in 1953, is 100 per cent owned by all 165 P.E.I. dairy producers and is the largest cheese processor in Atlantic Canada.
