According to Robert Maddix, the economic development officer with RDÉE Prince Edward Island, five Island businesses have confirmed their attendance on the next sales mission to Montreal in October, but a few spots are still open.

Participants are only required to pay 60 percent of their lodging and transportation expenses (around $750 to $850).

All other expenses are to be covered.

Maddix explained in a recent press statement that participating businesses must have a product or service that is ready or almost ready to be shipped and sold to the marketplace in Montreal.

Participants must also be able to interact fluently in French with potential buyers.

“Our first two sales mission to Montreal were extremely successful. Each of our participants was able to sell an average of $28,000 in products, which represents a very good investment for the sellers,” said Maddix.

A consultant from the company Clientis will be in touch either in person or teleconferencing with businesses accepted for the mission. The consultant will collect information on the products or services to be sold. Clientis will then fix meetings for each Island participant with a minimum of eight potential buyers.

Local entrepreneurs that have already pressed forward and confirmed their spots include a vinyl record pressing company, as well as companies dealing in fruits and vegetables, safety uniforms, high-end bicycles and handcrafts.

Maddix concluded, “So you can see that there is no limit to the type of product that you can try selling during these sales missions.”

The sales mission in Montreal will take place on Monday, October 23 to 27.

Anyone interested in participating can contact Maddix at: 902-370-7333, Ext. 403, or [email protected] as soon as possible to ensure a place.
