Sometimes it can take years to build a successful small business – but Cedric Arsenault did it in less than a month.

Until recently, Arsenault, of Summerside, was working as a farm hand. He decided to start cleaning vehicles in his driveway in the evenings and on weekends for some additional income. He called his business Mr. Bubbles Auto Detailing.

He was not, however, prepared for how quickly the business would take off.

He did his first car on July 10 and by July 27 he’d had to hire three additional people and moved into a temporary location at 20 Water Street.

He’s since left his farm job to concentrate on his business full-time and is looking to expand again into an indoor space for this winter. He suspects he’ll have to take on more employees soon as well.

The past three weeks have been a blur, said Arsenault.

“It’s a life-changing experience. It goes to really show, you treat people right and they’ll treat you right. Word of mouth is the best advertisement.

“Customer satisfaction on a small Island goes a long way,” he said.
