Two P.E.I. entrepreneurs who have poured their passion into the bus industry have received a prestigious award.

Mike Cassidy and Adam Doiron have won the Ernst Young Atlantic Business 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year Award thanks to their management and strategic direction of the Coach Atlantic Transportation Group.

The Ernst Young Entrepreneurship Awards Program recognizes entrepreneurs for their financial performance, vision, leadership, personal integrity and entrepreneurial spirit. It recognizes entrepreneurs through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 145 cities, in more than 60 countries.

“We understand and accept our regional responsibility to provide bus transportation services on a daily basis where we are continually connecting passengers, parcels and communities,’’ said Cassidy, president of the Coach Atlantic Group.

Coach Atlantic’s buses travel more than eight million kilometres per year.

“Our group of 300 dedicated staff and 200 vehicles provide an essential service to the region,’’ said Doiron, the CEO. “Without our people we would not be in a position to accept this award.’’

Cassidy and Doiron also operate Maritime Bus, Prince Edward Tours and the T3 Transit system that serves the greater Charlottetown area.
