Moyna Matheson, owner of Samuel's Coffee House, wanted to do just that.

After the sudden loss of Josh Grady, a long-term employee, she wanted to honour him in a manner that gave back to the community in the same spirit of positivity that she says he embodied.

"Josh connected very quickly with everyone he met because of his easy going and honest nature," added Matheson. "It's how he was able to touch people through a brief chat while pouring coffee that inspired me."

Samuel's Coffee House will soon be releasing Grady Bean, a special blend of coffee bean created in Josh's name. The bean is from the Ethopian region that was a personal favourite of Josh, and 100 per cent of the profits are being donated to organizations of his family's choice.

"We hope that through Grady Bean, people will reflect on Josh's love of life and appreciation for the simple moments", said Matheson. "To live life to the fullest."

Josh was just 26 when we died suddenly during a run in Nova Scotia. His passing hit those who know him best hard, with those in the community continually offering their condolences and recounting memories of Josh while visiting Samuel's.

Josh's parents also hope to see a positive impact with this initiative.

"We feel privileged and excited to have a coffee blend named in Josh's honour and continue to allow his legacy to live on," said a spokesman for the Grady family.

The bags of Grady Bean will be available for purchase at Samuel's Coffee House starting Saturday, Sept. 27, which Matheson hopes will be the beginning of a legacy in Josh's name.
