The Summerside resident is a client of Home Instead Senior Care, a company that’s been operating on the Island for several years but which opened its first Summerside area office Thursday.

MacKinnon has been a client for about two years now, she said, and appreciates the service.

“I couldn’t do without it. They’re wonderful, lovely girls,” she said.

Home Instead offers home support services for seniors and people with disabilities.

P.E.I. franchise owner David McMillan, speaking at the opening of his new office, located at 10 Slemon Park Dr, said the business has experienced an upswing in the amount of Prince County clients lately, so they opened this office for the convenience of clients and local caregivers.

“We’re approaching around 20 employees in the Prince County area, so we’re growing and this enables us to provide a much better service,” he said.

“I’m very proud and excited.”
