Pittsburgh, Pa. - COWS CREAMERY brought home hardware recently, from the 2018 American Cheese Society’s competition.

Among their seven medals was first in its category for “Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar,” promoting it to the bust in show category. The clothbound cheddar was awarded third place over all out of nearly 2,000 entries.

“This prestigious award for our Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar is a true honour,” says Andrea White, wholesale manager with COWS CREAMERY.

“It is very exciting that a cheese made on Prince Edward Island using 100 per cent P.E.I. milk can stand up against the best cheeses in the Americas! This is not just a win for Prince Edward Island, but for all of Canada.”

In addition, COWS CREAMERY’s Two-Year-Old Cheddar and Three-Year-Old Cheddar each won 2nd place, and their Extra Old Cheddar, Appletree Smoked Cheddar, and Cultured Butter each won 3rd place in their respective categories.

The 2018 American Cheese Society Competition welcomed 1,954 entries from 259 companies representing 35 US States, five Canadian provinces, Brazil, Columbia, and Mexico. A total of 364 medals were awarded including 103 gold, 124 silver, and 137 bronze medals.
