BLOOMFIELD -- Well-known West Prince singer and musician Cory Gallant is going to get to experience the bar scene from the other side of the counter.
“I pretty much lived in the bar and entertainment scene all my life,” said Gallant, co-owner of Hazzard Saloon, “and I’ve always had the interest on being on this side of it.”
The doors to Hazzard Saloon in the Bloomfield Mall get thrown wide open this Friday at 3 p.m. Hours of operation starting out will be 3 p.m. to midnight Tuesday to Thursday and noon to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night.
Gallant and Joey Doucette will be performing Friday night and Dwayne Doiron and Michael Myers will have the stage Saturday night.
Hazzard Saloon has a staff of eight and offers a full menu with seating for 65. Total capacity is around 100 patrons. There’s pool and darts, and a 70-inch projection screen.
Gallant said he is encouraged by the interest his new business enterprise is generating. He had 1000 people on Hazzard’s facebook page within 24 hours of setting it up, and comments have been positive, he said.
“I just felt central West Prince needed a place where people could go to unwind,” he said.
While Hazzard is primarily a country saloon, Gallant said other genres will be performing there from time to time.
There will also be trivia and karaoke nights. The first trivia night will be on April 25 with trivia master Jason Milligan.
The grand opening for Hazzard Saloon is planned for Saturday, May 3 at which time Gallant’s band, Old Doctor Young, will be performing.
