SUMMERSIDE -

SUMMERSIDE - The Charlottetown Colonels made it back-to-back championships in the Volleyball P.E.I. provincial 14-under girls' championship at Summerside Intermediate School recently.

Eight teams from six different clubs took part and it was a battle for all three medal positions. The teams first played a round robin (20-minute games) to determine seeding for the playoffs.

The Colonels finished first in Pool 'A', followed closely by Kensington Team One. Redd Mudd finished first in Pool 'B', with Summerside finishing in second. Other teams taking part were West Prince Islanders Team One and Team Two, Kensington Team Two and the EFB Jaguars.

The semifinals featured the Colonels defeating Summerside 34-23, and the Kensington Team One team get by Redd Mudd 34-24.

The gold-medal match was a see-saw affair as the Colonels prevailed over Kensington Team One 30-26.

Summerside took the bronze with a 33-27 win over Redd Mudd.

West Prince Islanders Team One - Katy Rayner.

West Prince Islanders Team Two - Kaylan Ellsworth.

Kensington Team One - Teila Coulson.

Kensington Team Two - Haley Evans.
