MONTAGUE -

MONTAGUE - Summerside native Erin Carmody is one win away from claiming her first provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Carmody and her Charlottetown Curling Club rink, also consisting of third stone Geri-Lynn Ramsay, second stone Kathy O'Rourke and lead Trisha Affleck, defeated Donna Butler of the Cornwall Curling Club 7-5 In Monday night's 'C' final of the P.E.I. women's curling championship.

Carmody, who is 6-1 (won-lost), will face Tammy Dewar of the host Montague Curling Club on Tuesday at 2 p.m. A Carmody win will send the former P.E.I. junior women's champion to the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., from Jan. 30 to Feb. 7. However, a Dewar win will force a sudden-death final in the triple knockout event Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Dewar is 3-2 and Butler finished 3-3.
