CHARLOTTETOWN – The Holland Hurricanes women’s soccer team has added forward Tessa Fudge for the 2014 Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA) season.

Tessa Fudge will play soccer for the Holland College Hurricanes this season.

The five-foot-five Fudge, who is from New Ross, N.S., spent last season as a member of the UPEI Panthers.

“I’m very excited about attending Holland College this fall, and I’m ready to learn,” said Ross, who is preparing for her first year in the dental program.

Hurricanes head coach Kris McKinnon is expecting big things from Fudge.

“Any time you can add a player of Tessa's calibre you are going to be excited,” said McKinnon. “She brings pace, awareness and a keen ability to score.

“Her experience with Soccer Nova Scotia provincial teams and in the AUS will be very valuable to our program. She will step into our program as a leader and a player capable of being a game-changer.”

Ross is a member of the South Shore United Football Club in Nova Scotia during the summer. She played her high school soccer at the Forest Heights Community School.

Fudge was selected as the rookie of the year with the Panthers last season, and helped the team reach the AUS championship. After scoring the winning goal in a game versus Acadia University in October, she lists this as one of her top soccer accomplishments to date.

Fudge is also described as a “player with great vision on the field that can bring veteran experience” as she enters her second season of collegiate soccer.

“Her control and composure is something that separates her from most players,” noted a media release.

The Hurricanes open the 2014 regular season at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall against the Dal-AC Rams on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m.
