MacMillan moves into first place in AUS scoring race
OTTAWA (CIS) – Soccer players Emily Brown from Wilfrid Laurier University and Cole MacMillan from the University of Prince Edward Island are the Canadian Interuniversity Sport female and male athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 6, 2013.
MacMillan, a second-year arts student from Stanhope, found the back of the net in three consecutive contests to lead the Panthers (3-3-3) to their first three wins of the regular season.
The 5-foot-11 striker, who finished the three-match set with five markers and a pair of game-winners, scored once last Wednesday in a 2-1 upset of third-place Moncton, once more on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat of Memorial, and then registered a hat trick on Sunday in a 4-0 shutout victory, also against Memorial.
Thanks to his remarkable week, MacMillan moved into first place in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) scoring with six goals.
Brown exploded for seven goals in two games over the weekend.
