Brookvale -

While snowy conditions may be keeping some Islanders off the roads Saturday, but conditions were prefect for skiers and snowboarders at Brookvale Provincial Ski Park.

The hill opened Jan. 2 and many snow lovers were hitting the slopes throughout the day, but only three of the park's 11 alpine trails were open. Lift passes were reduced to $10 as a result.

Snow guns had been hard at work since colder weather hit last Tuesday. About 10 kilometres of the cross country trails are ready for use, however the course remains closed until there is good ground cover throughout.

It looks like snowfall will continue throughout the day as a severe weather system moves through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. So far, only storm surge and wind warnings have been issued for Prince Edward Island.
