Zone 2 gymnastics competition setfor next week

At Canada Games Sports Centre in Slemon Park

SLEMON PARK – The Zone 2 P.E.I. School Athletic Association Milk Sport gymnastics competition will be held here at the Canada Games Sports Centre on Tuesday, Feb. 12.

The storm day, or delay date, will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the same location.

“We are thankful to the Saultos Gymnastics Club for allowing us to partner up with them for this zone meet,” said Kim McNeill, an organizer of the Zone 2 meet. “The expertise of the judges, and the use of the facility are certainly greatly appreciated.”

The pre-novice competition for both boys and girls is set to begin around 9 a.m., and will continue until noon. The novice, bantam and midget boys and girls’ competitions are set to start around noon.

Participants from Greenfield Elementary in Summerside, Parkside Elementary in Summerside, Miscouche Consolidated, Elm Street Elementary in Summerside, Queen Elizabeth Elementary in Kensington, Somerset Elementary in Kinkora and Athena Consolidated in Summerside will compete.

Parents and spectators are welcome to attend the competition. Athletes have been working hard on their skills for a floor routine, and have been practising their vaulting.

Spectators are asked to please note that no outdoor footwear will be permitted in the gymnasium.
