SUMMERSIDE -- The P.E.I. curling championship season kicks off this weekend.
The P.E.I. senior mixed, for teams aged 50 and over, will take place at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside.
Five rinks are entered, with three of the teams, including the defending champion Mel Bernard rink, coming from the host club.
Blair Jay and Harry Williams skip the other teams from The Fox. The John DeLuca foursome is entered from the Cornwall Curling Club, and the Donald Clarey squad from Montague round out the entries.
Teams will play a round-robin format, beginning Friday at 5 p.m., and wrapping up with Saturday's draw at 4 p.m.
The top-three teams from the round robin will advance to the playoff round, with the second- and third-place teams playing in the semifinal Sunday at 9 a.m., and the winner of that game meeting the first-place team in the final at 1 p.m.
