The solid serving of tournament most-valuable-player Isabelle Saunders led Francois Buote to the provincial championship.
"Isabelle was strong with her serve and hitting, and she only missed one hit," noted Francois Buote head coach J.P. Gallant. "Caitlyn Gill also served strong, and that was our strong point. But it was a team effort all year."
Francois Buote went through the season 8-0 (won-lost).
"I'm glad we were able to put all 12 players in the game today," added Gallant.
Francois Buote advanced to the final with a 3-0 semifinal win over M.E. Callaghan. Scores were 25-5, 25-14, 25-18.

SIS takes bronze
The Owls were still shaking off the effects of their semifinal loss to Souris in the bronze-medal match against M.E. Callaghan.
After losing the first set 25-22, the Owls then won the next three sets. All sets were close, with both teams going through momentum swings.
None was more evident than the fourth set. With the Cougars taking a 14-10 lead, SIS coach Les Pendleton called a timeout to settle his troops.

Calm down

"We just had to calm down, call the ball and get some serves in," said Pendleton.
From then on, the Owls gained control and the momentum as the bronze medals were within reach.
With some strong serving from Rebecca Gallant and some good rallies, the Owls took the set 25-18.
"The girls played fantastic tonight (Friday)," said Pendleton. "We didn't play well against Souris, but came back strong."
Souris defeated the Owls 3-0 (26-24, 25-10, 25-13).
