Westisle, CEC capture volleyball tournaments

KENSINGTON -- The Westisle Wolverines and Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) One captured two high school volleyball tournaments in Prince County on Saturday.

The Westisle boys beat Charlottetown Rural 2-1 (25-9, 22-25, 15-6) in the championship match of the Three Oaks Senior High School kickoff tournament in Summerside. Three Oaks beat CEC 2-0 to take the bronze medal. Scores were 25-17, 25-18.

Meanwhile, the CEC One girls captured their ninth Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School Volleyball Extravaganza championship in 11 years. CEC, which is based in Truro, N.S., beat Bluefield 2-0 (25-13, 25-22) in the gold-medal final. The Yarmouth Vikings defeated Sackville 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) in an all-Nova Scotia bronze-medal match.
